EQUI-BLOOM - OMEGA 3 FATTY ACID SUPPLEMENT

Equi-Bloom is a highly stable, flavored OMEGA-3 fatty acid supplement for horses. Horses are unique in that they need two types of dietary essential fatty acids. These are OMEGA-6 and OMEGA-3 fatty acids. The correct ratio of 6 to 3 fatty acids is considered to be 5 to 1. Most equine diets are 20 to 1 or greater.

Current studies demonstrate the beneficial effects of OMEGA-3 fatty acid supplements in the horse. Researchers at Texas A & M discovered reining horses fed a diet high in OMEGA-3 fatty acids had decreased inflammatory responses including decreased cortisol concentrations following exercise. Other researchers have concluded horses afflicted with arthritis, laminitis, colic and enteritis benefit from diets high in OMEGA-3 fatty acids. Positive benefits of OMEGA-3 fatty acids on reproduction have been reported in cows, mares, stallions and boars. The strongest data are in cattle where flaxseed, a rich source of OMEGA-3’s, supplementation increased both conception rate (48% vs 32%) and calving rates (65% vs 43%).

EQUITHROX-ORAL THYROXINE SUPPLEMENT

Many veterinarians prefer EQUITHROX thyroid supplement as a source of Lthyroxine sodium due to its apple and molasses flavored base. Competing products are not flavored and therefore less likely to be consumed by the horse. The dose of L-thyroxine sodium fed is the same per administration as that of competitors but more EQUITHROX will be eaten. This consistently results in higher serum concentrations of total thyroxine (TT4). Many veterinarians switched to EQUITHROX because they observed both higher serum TT4 and a more rapid and consistent clinical response.

Irrespective of the source of the thyroxine supplement, it is imperative to monitor serum concentrations of TT4 via a validated equine assay system. MAX SEMEN PLUS SEMEN EXTENDER

MAX SEMEN PLUS has been demonstrated to be one of the best extenders available for semen from stallions that are poor shippers. It contains penicillin and amikacin, shown to be the most effective combination of antibiotics for the majority of stallions. Reproductive veterinarians have reported MAX SEMEN PLUS has been the only effective extender on the market that offers acceptable spermatozoal motility for many of their problem stallions.

MAX SEMEN PLUS was developed by a prominent Brazilian veterinarian in collaboration with Botucatu Veterinary School which specializes in equine reproductive physiology. This formulation was developed to improve pregnancy results when breeding with cooled-shipped semen collected under adverse conditions and shipped long distances in a hot ambient environment. There are few EquitainersTM in Brazil and semen must be transported in Styrofoam boxes with little data on temperature stability within the box. The primary benefit of MAX SEMEN PLUS may be in its ability to reduce the accumulation of spermatozoal waste products in seminal plasma.
